Boca Raton: Children Contest
BOCA RATON, Gumbo Limbo Feb 7th, 2009 I am drawing with Pascal and Say No to Plastic Bags Have a budding artist? Bring your children to “I am drawing with Pascal” at Gumbo Limbo to work on a painting of their own. Children 5-10 may enter an art contest by adding colors and other designs to an outline of one of Pascal’s paintings. Winners will be selected by Pascal and announced at our Fourth Annual Sea Turtle Day on March 7. Children who are not able to attend a workshop but would like to participate in the contest may pick up entry packets at the front desk of Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. Please direct any questions about the contest to Mike at. For the past twenty-five years, Pascal Lecocq’s paintings have been characterized by varying shades of blue, rendering the sky, sea, clouds and fog. Although never a SCUBA diver himself, he began expressing his thoughts and humor featuring a “little blue man”, a deep sea diver, in his paintings. Pascal is a member of the Ocean Artists Society. His passion for the arts and environmental education led to the formation of the Pascal Foundation for the Arts and Environmental Education (foundation.pascal-lecocq.com). The foundation’s goal is to encourage children to express themselves by painting and showing concern for the environment. In January 2007, at a dive show in Paris, the Foundation launched a contest for elementary school aged children to encourage this idea (see the 3rd contest in Paris last January). Last year this idea was introduced to South Florida at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in order to promote environmental awareness and creativity in local children. Reservations are not required for this program. Supervision Required: An adult must participate with children. This program is offered on the following dates: Gumbo Limbo Nature Center |
