July 14-15 Sharcon 5, Tampa Pascal’s 3rd solo show
The painter of Blue and Sharks will be exhibiting at the next SharkCon in Tampa.
The event will be held at the Florida Fair Grounds, Tampa. It will be held Saturday July 14th, 2018 from 9am-5pm & Sunday July 15th, 2018 from 10am-5pm.
SharkCon is an event that brings those who love the ocean together for a weekend of education and the fun of a Comic Con.
SharkCon has something for everyone who loves the ocean.
Presented by The Florida Aquarium – SharkCon is an ocean conservation, scuba, water sports expo. We have something for the whole family. We have speakers like Eli Martinez and Duncan Brake from Shark Week, Anthony Ferrante the director of the Sharknado movies, Chris Fischer from OCEARCH, and shark scientist like Dr. Stephen Kajiuru, Hannah Medd, Dr. Alex Antoniou, Dr. Heather Blacktail and Dr.Rick Macpherson. We have the whale activist and author of Salt, Krill Carson. We have the author of Sharks of the Shallow, Dr. Jeff Carrier. We even have Brent Winner from Fish and Wildlife giving a shark and Ray ID presentation. Shark Conservationist and founder of Sharks4Kids, Jillian Morris Brake. There are tons of kids activities, exhibits from Fish and Wildlife, Busch Gardens, and the Shark Conservation Center, and water sport clinics. We will also have the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium mobile exhibit on site! In addition there are over 100 marine related vendors. Check page for speaker, event and exhibit announcements. Event parking at the Fairgrounds is $6.
July 27th Pascal proudly sponsors Sharkwater, new vessel for Fins Attached
We believe in the preservation of our world’s precious resources and that through the protection of the ocean’s apex predators marine ecosystem balance can be maintained for the benefit of all living things on earth
SHARKWATER Christening.
Fins Attached, is excited to announce the christening of the research expedition vessel, M/Y Sharkwater. The event will take place at the Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale on July 27 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, and is open to the public. Fins Attached is pleased to name the vessel Sharkwater, to honor the late filmmaker, Rob Stewart. Fins Attached has partnering with the Sharkwater Team to help finish the filming of Sharkwater Extinction.
Sharkwater is a 134 foot vessel that was originally built in Japan and used by Japanese fisheries, but now has been repurposed for the good of our oceans through the marine research and conservation mission of Fins Attached. Sharkwater will be a host to many different professions within the field. Scientists, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), marine science students, and documentary crews will have the opportunity to conduct fieldwork, and to achieve the objectives of Fins Attached. Scientists and film crews have already reached out to Fins Attached to be able to use Sharkwater over the next 12 months.
Gaining its own research expedition vessel will allow the nonprofit to expand its mission. Fins Attached works toward saving marine animal life, sharks in particular. “Shark populations are on the decline, and in some species, by over 95%. As Rob Stewart always said, saving our oceans is saving us.” Stated Alex Antoniou, Fins Attached founder.
“Being able to support research, conversation, and education of the apex predators of the sea is what Sharkwater is all about,” Antoniou continued.
“The Sharkwater team is proud to be a part of the Sharkwater research vessel and we know Rob Stewart was thrilled to have been involved in this significant initiative. It’s imperative we support the oceans and all its creatures and this boat will provide an excellent resource for researchers, scientists, and conservation groups for years to come,” began Brian and Sandy Stewart. “A giant thank you to Alex…and his organization Fins Attached for making this happen. As Rob said, ‘Conservation is the preservation of human life on earth and that above all else is worth fighting for,’ concluded Brian.

SHARKWATER IS AVAILABLE
Sharkwater will be working in the Eastern Pacific, especially in the Eastern Tropical Pacific, which includes Cocos Island (Costa Rica), Malpelo Island (Colombia), and the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador), collectively referred to as the “triangle.” She will be used to support the research and conservation efforts of partner researchers and NGOs in the region. Additionally, Sharkwater will conduct expedition in Mexico at Guadalupe and Socorro. Beyond this, film crews will have access to Sharkwater. Contact info@finsattached for more information.

I’m honored to join Dr Alessandro Marroni, Dan Europe, Sponsor of the prize and graphic artist genius Schlomo Cohen to judge the competition of best posters for Silence of the Sharks.
The announcement will broadcast in an underwater ceremony in Eilat, Israel, mid Sept.

• On August 3rd, online voting concludes and the best 5 posters with the highest final score will reach the finals.

SharkCon is an event that brings those who love the ocean together for a weekend of education and the fun of a Comic Con. SharkCon has something for everyone who loves the ocean. In the inaugural SharkCon we had experts (Sylvia Earle, Robert Hueter, Stuart Cove, Ellen Prager, Jim Abernethy, and more) give presentations that entertained and enlightened our guest to the wonders and plights of the ocean. We had water sports clinics to teach our attendees how to paddle board, kayak, surf and fish. The show had over 80 vendors from different areas of ocean fun (scuba, live aboards, charters, clothing, fishing, books, jewelry, fossils, paddle boards, vacation destinations, and much more). We had exhibits from the Florida Aquarium (animals, fossils, educational material), Mote Marine Laboratory Mobile exhibit, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo (animals), SeaWorld (fossils, examples, learning materials, shark photo options, more), Sharks from Ocean Creations, a shark ride(like the bucking horse), children’s coloring tables, the Mascot from the Clearwater Threshers, Aquaman, a showing of Jaws at the Tampa Theater, and even more. All of our guests left after having been entertained, educated, and with a renewed passion to protect our oceans.
